Hope Thoennes, from Avon, Indiana is the owner of Tailored Hope. She has been hand crafting accessories and selling them for over a decade now - mainly through her shop on Etsy but also through local craft fairs.
Hope has always wanted to be an entrepreneur. In fact, she found a list of goals from when she was nine where she listed wanting to start a "buzzins" (spelling was not her strongest skill). She was 14 when she started and has grown every year since, even after graduating college in 3 years with a double major in finance and entrepreneurship from Indiana Wesleyan University. Her small business has allowed her to help provide for her family but also honors those who struggle with mental health. Hope's youngest brother suffered from mental illness and committed suicide in 2018. Her store on Etsy shares the following: "We believe strongly in the importance of breaking the silence around mental illness and are devoted to helping those who struggle. 15% of all profits are donated to the organization To Write Love On Her Arms (TWLOHA) to help them provide resources to those struggling with depression, self-harm, and suicidal thoughts. After losing my little brother January of 2018 to severe depression and bipolar disorder, we KNOW the devastating effect that these issues can bring. Let's work to break the silence and bring HOPE!" It's awesome to have small business owners like Hope who provide quality, hand made goods and cares about her customers and community.
